For many of us, the answer is, “There is no way it’s possible right now.” It’s a terrifying feeling because you’re sick enough that working your old job isn’t possible but getting financial help (such as SSI) isn’t going to happen because you’re not sick enough.

Believe it or not, self-employment is one of the best solutions to this problem. Being a virtual assistant is a versatile job that allows you to work when you’re functioning best. You can easily work doctor appointments and naps into your schedule. And when things are really hard, you can scale back to the bare minimum quickly.

The independence I have now (and the freedom to live my best life) was worth the hard work.

I created this space to pull back the curtain on what it looks like to be a virtual assistant with a chronic illness. In addition to tools you can use to build your business, I’m getting real about how to keep your business running when you’re too sick to open your eyes.

Here, we’ll dive into how to build your business, grow your skill set, and my favorite life hacks to make it possible to run a business without losing too many spoons. (Not sure what I’m talking about? Click here to learn more about the Spoon Theory.)
